1. What is the Teaposy difference?
Our teaposy blooming teas are made with the highest grade of rare silver needle white tea leaves. We work directly with tea farms and factories. We ensure that harvesting, crafting and packaging happen in the same year so that the product is market fresh. Over 80% of our tea leaves are select spring harvest, the highest quality of the year. We scent our teas with only natural jasmine flowers. No artificial flavors are used. We submit our final product to reputable labs for inspection to ensure we meet world class standards. Our factory holds 8 blooming tea patents in China. (Back to Top)

2. How are teaposies made?
Hand picked in spring, the out leaves are plucked, leaving only the new buds to be used in the tea production process. They are withered and dried at a high temperature. This process completes the production of silver needle loose leaf teas. The loose tea leaves are then sorted and tied with natural cotton threads to make tea bundles. Each bundle weighs the same and contains leaves of the same length. Flowers are sewed into the tea bundles, shaped and then dried again at a high temperature to complete the handcraft process. The unscented teaposies are wrapped in cheese cloths and then mixed with freshly picked jasmine flowers to go through a complicated scenting process. They will be dried again at a high temperature, thus removing any remaining impurities. Then they are packaged immediately to maintain freshness. (Back to Top)

3. What do they taste like?
The description of flavor may be cultural. We have attempted to create flavor profiles that help Americans, namely, associate the flavors of these teas with flavors in their English repertoire. Made from the finest Silver Needle White Tea and lightly scented with fresh Jasmine flowers, a sip of these remarkable teas reveals a subtle jasmine aroma and a lingering pure, sweet finish. But this is where the likeness ends... Each Teaposy bloom is crafted with a different type of flower, infusing them with distinct and rare qualities found only in nature. (Back to Top)

5. Do they have caffeine?
Our teaposy blooming teas are not decaffeinated. However white tea contains the lowest level of caffeine among all caffeinated tea or coffee drinks. A cup of white tea contains an average of 8-15mg caffeine while a cup of coffee provides 60-120mg. It is also worth noting that whereas the caffeine in coffee is absorbed rapidly into the body, thus stimulating an immediate increase in blood circulation and cardiovascular activity, the polyphenols in tea are thought to slow down the rate of absorption. The effects of the caffeine are felt more slowly but remain in the body longer, thus making tea a refreshing and revitalizing beverage. (Back to Top)

6. How long have blooming teas been around?
It started in China in about 1995. Our tea farm hand tied silver needle tea leaves and a plum blower with cotton threads. That was the first blooming tea on the market from our silver needle tea farm. There is another tea farm in a different region of China producing a type of green teas that is also known to have invented blooming teas. Nobody really knows who made the first blooming tea, but each different design does have a patented owner. Our tea factory holds 8 blooming tea design patterns. (Back to Top)

7. How do I brew a teaposy?
Teaposies are tied very tightly, so water heated to boiling temperature is essential for them to bloom properly. Use a heat resistant glass teapot with a relatively wide base to enjoy the experience. It takes a minute or two for a teaposy to bloom in boiling hot water. However, each one has a unique character and some of them may take longer. If the water is not hot enough, it can also take a bit more time. Remember, this is a good opportunity to try patience and to have a moment for yourself. : Once a teaposy reach full bloom, it is ready for your first cup of tea, which offers a strong aroma with a light flavor. Keep adding hot water gently to the pot, and take your time. Flavor gradually increases and aroma decreases with each following cup. You may be surprised how many cups of tea just one teaposy can offer you and your friends. (Back to Top)
